Bang bang, back again with another classic to my sneaker collection. I’m pretty sure a majority of you reading this already know about this legendary pair of sneakers.
In 1982, the Nike Air Force 1 first made their debut to the sneaker game. It was the first ever basketball sneaker to use Nike air technology. (Just to give you a little back story).
About a month ago, I visited the Archivist gallery sneaker exhibition in Hoxton, London where they paid tribute to the 25 greatest sneakers of all time. Believe it or not the gallery ranked the Nike AF1 as the second greatest sneaker of all time and I totally agree.
This featured pair are apart of the LV8 pack released in December 2015, alongside other colour ways. The feature which drew me in to this sneaker specifically, is the wheat colour similarity to the original Timberland boot.
The best thing about AF1’s are that they are always true to size. So going a size up or down is up to personal preference. I would say although AF1’s are durable, they do have the tendency to lose shape after general wear and tear.
One of the many complaints I’ve noticed many people have with this sneaker, is the crease which develops around the toe area. If you look closely at my picture you’ll notice the crease. But to be very honest, I believe it’s inevitable for any sneaker not look so new if you wear them quite often.
I’m a big believer in if you take care of your sneakers, the way you take care of personal possessions, then you’ll get a good run for your money. (Well sneakers are dear to my heart so I treat them like my babies).
A major reason why I believe you should add an AF1 to your sneaker collection, is because of the Nike air technology in the sneaker. Although you cannot see it visibly in AF1’s, inside the wide mid sole they have air cushioning (well obviously ‘air’ force 1 loool). The air cushioning enables the shoe to feel super comfortable and springy. (Plus the sneaker adds a couple centimetres in height, major bonus).
This colour way may not appeal to every one but, it truly does make the sneaker versatile to wear with different outfits. Imagine an all denim outfit with these kicks on (it’s gonna look lit). There are so many colour ways to the AF1 and also for those who aren’t a fan of high top sneakers, guess what….
they come in low tops as well (what a wow)
I do hope after reading this review you do go purchase a pair of AF1’s because it’s such a timeless sneaker.
Thanks for reading : )
