The Vans Sk8 Hi is an all time classic to the sneaker game, period. I know a lot of thoughts surrounding vans sk8’s at the moment are “everyone is wearing them“, but to be very honest they are a cool pair of sneakers that can be used to retro jazz up any outfit. Especially if you aren’t generally a sneaker head.
And they are comfortable !!
These are my fourth pair of vans, and I particularly favour towards this pair, simply because of the black suede. In my opinion suede adds a hint a prestige if you get what I mean (I honestly feel like a G when wearing them lol). Plus a major bonus to suede sneakers are that they are durable. They can be easily maintained if you spray a bit of crep protect on them, then you are good to go rain or shine.
To many people the vans sk8 hi are popularly known as a skateboarding shoe. Not gonna lie although on a occasion I do ride my penny board (s/o to everyone on that wave), there is no way you’ll catch me wearing this pair on my board. Simply because I wouldn’t want to rough them up.
I’m yet to come across a low cut pair in the same colour way, there is probably one out there. However the thing I like about the high tops are that they look less masculine. You could easy wear them with some tights and a skirt or dress. The high top to the shoe almost looks like a boot. (I literally hope you can imagine the vision I’m trying to explain, if not ignore this)
If you are interested in buying this pair of vans, I’m all for it. It’s inexpensive and worth the money for a timeless pair of sneakers. In addition the black colour way enables them to be a diverse pair to your sneaker collection. The material of the shoe makes it very durable and the shoes are almost true to size. I’d advise if you have wide feet go for your original shoe size. But if you have a slimmer foot it’s probably best to go one or half a size down, as the shoe does loosen up after a couple uses.
Would I purchase them again?
Yes – I already have another pair of sk8 hi’s in a suede burgundy colour.

Have a great week 🙂
